Frequently Asked Questions
What is water mitigation?
Water mitigation is the process of reducing and preventing further water damage after an incident like flooding, broken pipes, or appliance leaks. It includes water extraction, drying, dehumidification, and damaged material removal.
What areas do you serve?
We serve residential clients throughout Northern and Central Utah, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Layton, Logan, Spanish Fork, Ephraim, Price, and surrounding areas.
What should I do if I find water damage in my home?
- If safe, shut off the main water supply.
- Turn off electricity in the affected area.
- Call a plumber to assess the cause of the water damage and possibly repairs to prevent further damage.
- Call our team right away to assess the extent of the damage.
Avoid using electrical appliances or trying to vacuum water yourself.
Do you offer Restoration or Reconstruction services?
No, the rebuild after mitigation can be done by any local contractor. You can hire whomever you wish or we can refer some known contractors that we have worked with before for any carpet, vinyl or wood flooring, and drywall repairs.
Why is Water Damage a Serious Problem?
Water can destroy parts of your home in a short amount of time. It weakens drywall, damages flooring, and causes wood to swell or rot.
Additionally, water damage increases the risk of mold. Mold can begin growing within 24 to 48 hours in damp conditions. This can make your home unsafe and lead to health issues.
How long does the water mitigation process take?
Typically, the drying process takes 3–5 days, depending on the severity of the damage. Full restoration (including drywall, flooring, etc.) may take longer. We’ll provide you with a clear timeline after the initial assessment.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Yes. We work directly with most major homeowners insurance providers to simplify your claims process. We’ll handle documentation, estimates, and communication with your adjuster.
Is water mitigation covered by homeowners insurance?
Usually, yes — if the damage is sudden and accidental (like a burst pipe or storm). Gradual or neglected issues may not be covered. We recommend contacting your provider. We have employed former insurance adjusters who can help guide you through the claim and better understand what you are owed by your policy.
How much does water mitigation cost?
The cost depends on the extent of the damage and the size of the affected area. Unfortunately, costs can add up fast. On average a Mitigation of a full 12’x12’ size area starts at about $3,500, depending on how much damage is present and how long drying takes. We use the same estimating software that all major insurance carriers and most large contractor companies use to assess reasonable costs. This assures that all costs are in line with the local market and nothing is being inflated.
In some cases we may be able to offer a deductible reimbursement of up to 25% of your policy deductible, depending on the size and complexity of the damage and your deductible amount. This allows you to allocate those funds towards the repairs for your home once mitigation is complete. This offer is assessed case by case and will be discussed before completion of the job.
Do you also handle mold removal?
No. If mold is present due to water damage, you will need professional mold remediation.
Can you repair broken appliances that caused the water damage?
No. We do not have any appliance repair technicians. We can refer local repair companies for you to consider if you do not want to find one yourself.
Do you have Public Adjusters employed to represent us on our insurance claim?
No. We have individuals who has worked several years as insurance adjusters for large insurance carriers. They are familiar with the policy coverages and claim processes. They can help you navigate your claim and provide to correct documentation that the insurance carrier requires to pay on your property damage claim.
